The charitable remainder trust is both the most flexible and most complex of all charitable gift planning instruments. This session will provide an overview of the issues specific to CRT’s, including general trust basics, CRT mechanics, CRAT’s vs. CRUT’s, income tax issues, the components of the income tax charitable deduction and how each affects the deduction, Federal gift and estate tax issues, managing and administering CRT’s, clues to look for, etc. While not the last word, this session will provide a good working introductory knowledge that all gift planners should have.
12:30pm-1:30 pm Luncheon Speaker: "What’s Wrong With This Gift?" with Joe Bull, Senior Philanthropy Officer for Global Priorities The Nature Conservancy
Joe Bull bio
The old saying, “Truth is stranger than fiction,” certainly applies to charitable gift planning. This session will examine several real life scenarios, and participants will be asked to determine what is wrong and what the gift planner should have (or should not have) done. If you like interactive sessions, this one is definitely for you.
