Keynote Speaker
Joe Golding
Chairman and CEO

"Understanding Donors, Planned Giving, and Philanthropic Passion in the Current Economic Environment"

Based on over ten years of extensive research into donors, donor motivation, and giving trends, this keynote presentation will provide great insights into working with donors and donor prospects more effectively. The fast-moving and dynamic presentation will feature research reports and key elements from the research as well as video clips of donors, non-profit leaders, and top development professionals discussing their philanthropic experiences.

Content will include:

  • Donor motivation, including the hidden spectrum of passion, joy, and frustration
  • Types of gifts: loyalty vs. passion
  • Giving from the perspective of donors: is it really a “gift”?
  • segmenting donors: building predictability into donor interactions
  • Hidden factors of financial capacity and how they drive donor thinking
  • The current economy: not the TV news, but from the viewpoint of a donor with “significant financial capacity”
  • Creating deeper conversations than you can imagine: more donor joy and much larger gifts
  • Planned giving as the ultimate tool for donor delight—and as the lead opportunity for growing current as well as future private support for your organization

In the session, you may discover that not everything you’ve been taught about development and donors is true—and you will discover new ways to work with donors more effectively, bringing greater gratification to donors, more money to your organization, and more true joy to your work.
